A Guide to Hemmeter’s Fundraising Program

What is SCRIP?

Scrip is  one of Hemmeter Parent Teacher Councils (HPTC) fundraising efforts.  It encompasses two efforts: gift card sales and in-store programs from Target, Kroger and Meijer.

The best part about this fundraiser is that it costs you absolutely nothing to participate in the programs.

Gift Card sales (SCRIP):

HPTC buys gift cards from local and national vendors at a discount.  We sell them to you at full price.  You use them like cash for the full face value of the card (e.g. $25 Meijer gift card costs HPTC $24 we sell it to you for $25 and you spend $25) HPTC keeps the difference to fund enrichment activities for Hemmeter students.  It costs you absolutely nothing but time to help HPTC raise funds for our students. 

What Vendors are Available?

We have SCRIP in stock for around 100 places!  There are cards available for gas, groceries, restaurants and shopping. Some of the most popular include Speedway, Sunoco, Walmart, Meijer’s, Wendy’s, Barnes & Noble, Kohl’s and Macy’s.

You can also use Kohl’s SCRIP cards to pay off your Kohl’s charge cards!

How to Buy SCRIP during the 2012-2013 school year:

• Send in an order form with your child to school.  A SCRIP flyer will be sent home every Thursday.  Fill this order form out and send it to school, along with your payment, with your child by Tuesday.  Your order will be filled and returned on Friday.
• Stop by the SCRIP Table on Fridays (2:15-3:00) outside the office. Please have cash or check on hand. 
• E-mail an order (esdeibel@gmail.com ).  Email any day of the week.  Send your payment to the office in an envelope marked SCRIP by Tuesday and your order will be filled on Friday.
• Join www.ShopwithScrip.com and do all your ordering online. You even have the option to pay directly online with Prestopay ~ it is that easy! (You can still order online and send in a check with your child to school either way works great!) See more details on www.Shopwithscrip.com below.
• Create a standing order.  Request a form from Emily Deibel to set up a weekly, bimonthly, or monthly order.  E.g. Place a standing order for $25 Meijer (4%) and $25 Speedway (5%) to be sent home every Friday for the entire school year.

  $25 Meijer gift card costs HPTC $24 ($25 x 4% = $1)

  $25 Speedway card costs HPTC $23.75 ($25 x 5% = $1.25)

  So $2.25 rebate from your order x 36 weeks = $81.00 generated for HPTC

• Orders will be sent home on Fridays only.
• We will not accept orders over the phone.  Please fill out an order form and send it to school or email Emily Deibel.  You may pick up your orders only at the school.

Please Note:  Large orders of a single vendor may not be in stock.  Stock is ordered on Tuesday and generally arrives on Thursday.  If you need several cards from a single vendor, place your order by 10 am on Tuesday for Friday delivery.

Weeks with NO School on Friday:

If you send in an order form on Tuesday, I usually get orders back from GLSCrip by Thursday.  If there is a Thursday at school, orders will be sent home with your child, or you can pick them up outside of the office only until 2:40.

There will be no scrip store on Thursdays, so if you want cards, send in an order form with payment!

Some local vendors may not be available on short weeks.  Scrip will NOT be sold during weeks with only three days at school.

What if I’d like to Give a Donation Instead?

 Using the HPTC 2011-12 budget we estimated the cost of scheduled enrichment programs to be $70/child/year.  SCRIP is a very easy and profitable program.  We encourage everyone to give it a try.  However, if you find that it does not work for you, a cash donation is gladly accepted.  A check made out to HPTC may be sent with a note in an envelope addressed to Emily Deibel.

What is www.ShopwithScrip.com ?

We have connected the Great Lakes Scrip company and all of our local vendors with you ~ online!

You can place an order for SCRIP at your convenience any time you choose.  ShopwithScrip.com is an easy online tool that allows you to place an order from the inventory that Great Lakes Scrip carries as well as all of the local vendors you regularly enjoy from our stock.  Once you have placed the order, I as the coordinator can see your order and either fill it from my on hand stock or add it to my regular order for Fridays. 

I plan to place an order with Great Lakes Scrip on Tuesday mornings by 11 am.  By ordering before noon on Tuesdays it ensures delivery of our order to school on the following Thursday.  On Friday afternoons I will fill your outstanding order and send it home with your child (or other delivery method pre-arranged). 

It is easy to sign up with ShopWithScrip.com.  Simply direct your browser to www.ShopwithScrip.com and sign up as a new family.  You will be prompted to input personal information (only your name, zip code and password are required).  Once your information is entered the next screen will ask you for an organization code, please enter D4B43616666 for Hemmeter Parent Teacher Council.  Once this is all confirmed you are all set to begin ordering SCRIP online from Hemmeter!

In-Store Programs

A few stores in our area support Hemmeter Parent Teacher Council simply from family members shopping in their stores.  Each store has a different program please see below for details about the programs that Kroger, Target and Meijer offer.

Kroger Community Rewards
 Kroger Community Rewards program allows shoppers to help raise funds for HPTC by simply shopping with their Kroger Plus Shopping card.

How to Participate:

1) Sign up for a Kroger Plus Shopping card at your local Kroger store.
2) Sign up with www.Kroger.com and link your Kroger Plus Shopping Card with HPTC non-profit organization using enrollment code:   NPO# 83158
3) Shop at Kroger and be sure to scan your Kroger Plus card.  (To know if you signed up correctly ~ look at the bottom of your Kroger reciept is should say Hemmeter Parent Teacher Council at the bottom.)

Key Points: 
Any family members can participate. Our organizations participation is determined on how many families participate and how much they spend on a monthly basis. Kroger rewards HPTC with a percentage based upon participation of our organization per quarter.

Target
Target will donate up to 1% of your purchases to Hemmeter school.

How to participate:
1) Register Hemmeter on your Target RedCard at Target.com/tcoe. If you prefer, you may call 1-800- 316-6142 to designate Hemmeter school.  It’s easy to apply. Get started in person at any Target store or go to Target.com/redcard.

Key Points:
Grandparents, friends and neighbors are all welcome to participate in the program. The more people involved, the harder the program works for Hemmeter school. Target Store Card earns 1% on all purchases at Target or Target.com. Target Visa Card earns 1% on all Target store or Target.com purchases. Target Visa Card earns ½% on purchases everywhere.

Meijer
Meijer will donate up to 1% of your qualified purchase to Hemmeter school.  

How to participate:
1)Apply for a Meijer 1 Card. This is not a credit card but a store reward card. You can do this on-line at Meijer.com or in the store. 
2)Designate HPTC code 661395 to receive rewards. Your Meijer 1 Card will be mailed to you within 2-3 weeks.
3)Shop at Meijer. Use your Meijer Credit Card OR a PIN debit card OR cash with your swiped Meijer 1card.

Key Points:
We earn rewards for Meijer store purchases, Meijer Gas purchases and Meijer.com purchases. You may not pay with checks or other types of credit cards.  Meijer will donate 1% if you use your Meijer Credit Card to pay. Meijer will donate ½% if you use your PIN debit card or cash to pay. Grandparents, friends and neighbors are all welcome to participate in the program.
