Representative Amos O'Neal presented $1.9 million to Saginaw Township Community Schools to fully restore the Sherwood Pool. The pool has been used for 35 years for community swim lessons, aquatic exercise and lifeguard training. It has been closed since 2022 due to structural problems and a lack of needed parts. The district could not divert instructional general funds for the repairs, and enough sponsors could not be found due to the size of the funding. A request was then made for state funding to restore the community use pool and Rep. Amos O'Neal secured those necessary funds. The STCS Superintendent, an aquatics participant, the Chamber and Saginaw Township were all represented at the check presentation.
